What Is an AFO?

An Ankle Foot Orthosis is a custom-made brace prescribed for significant ankle instability or ankle collapse. Unlike a foot orthotic, which supports the arch and sole of the foot, an AFO extends up the lower leg to stabilize the ankle joint itself, addressing issues that a standard device simply isn't designed to handle.

• We take a partial weight-bearing fiberglass mold of your foot and lower leg during your appointment.
• This mold is sent to an accredited lab, where your custom brace is carefully fabricated to match your exact shape.
